UFO’S In Art History

With a mindset which represents the technological advancements of 2012, are humans now able to generate a better understanding of what past cultures could only draw and describe in the words they knew?

The Ministry of Tomorrow would like to present such pictures in hopes of gaining an alternate perspective. Please note that the Ministry of Tomorrow does not have any religious affiliation. Most of the paintings shown below were pieces commissioned and created through religious institutions of the time. This is why most art of this period depicts religious stories.

Painting of the Madonna and Saint Giovannino, in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, attrbuted to the 15th Century school of Filippo Lippi.

When examining the upper left section of the painting, the painting clearly shows an object in the sky, and below, a man and dog looking at the object.

Further enlargement shows an oval or disc shaped craft with radiating gold spikes of light painted around its perimeter.

This painting is by artist Aert De Gelder and is entitled “The Baptism of Christ”.

It was painted in 1710 and hangs in the Fitzwilliam Museum, in Cambridge .A clear depiction of a disk shaped object is shining beams of light down on John the Baptist and Jesus. This painting shows an awareness of UFO’s by this artist in 1710.

“The Crucifixion” hangs above the altar at the Visoki Decani Monestary in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, painted in 1350.
On either side of Jesus are a pair of  Single man like skycars, one chasing the other.  The pilots look to be working controls.

Could there possibly have been sightings of UFOs like these, single pilot craft, in medieval Yugoslavia?
Did people of the time merely imagine the inside and workings, or did they witness it for themselves?

“The Annunciation”
painted by Carlo Crivelli in 1486. This piece is
on display in the National Gallery in London.

A familiar disk shaped object is shining a beam of light
through the house wall and down onto the top of Mary’s head.

These images from the 12th century manuscript “Annales Laurissenses” This is Latin for “volumes” or “books” about “historical and religious” events, in which
depicts the Saxon siege of Sigiburg Castle, France, in the year 776.

The Crusaders had the medieval French completely surrounded
when the “flaming shields” suddenly appeared in the sky.

The manuscript says that this took place over a church. The Saxons thought that the French were bing protected so they fled in fear from the UFOs.

Ancient peoples did not have the reality of technology to be able to describe these phenomenological accounts as UFO’s. For them these accounts were described as Angels, or God himself. From a modern day perspective we can clearly associate these pictures with our current reality. Here we do depict them as UFO’s. What does this now say about our past? What does this say about our present? This is the heart of what inspires the Ministry of Tomorrow.
